Prime Minister Narendra Modi Highlights Digital India's Transformational Impact as Initiative Completes 11 Years
Digital India completed 11 years with Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighting its role in transforming governance, empowering citizens and accelerating development. He said the initiative has strengthened digital payments, Direct Benefit Transfers, innovation, education, healthcare and emerging technologies, while driving sustainable and technology-led national growth.
Highlighting the achievements of the programme, the Prime Minister said that Digital India has made governance more transparent and efficient by enabling seamless digital payments and ensuring that Direct Benefit Transfers reach beneficiaries without delays or leakages. He said that technology has emerged as a powerful instrument for improving the ease of living and strengthening public service delivery across the country.
Mr Modi further said that Digital India has expanded the wave of innovation beyond major metropolitan cities, reaching villages as well as Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities. He noted that young entrepreneurs, start-ups and innovators from every corner of the country are developing solutions to address pressing global challenges, demonstrating India's growing technological capabilities.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the initiative has strengthened key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, commerce and public service delivery. He said that the government's sustained efforts in the digital sector have enabled India to make rapid progress in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors and quantum computing.
Reaffirming the government's long-term vision, Mr Modi said that the focus will remain on building a future where technology serves humanity, empowers every citizen and drives sustainable development. He stressed that Digital India will continue to play a pivotal role in advancing innovation, expanding digital inclusion and supporting India's journey toward becoming a global technology leader.
